OCTOBER CRAFT WORKSHOPS—For all of October, there’ll be spooky crafts for kids, adults and families to enjoy. Choose from scary candy bowls to glow-in-the-dark graveyard friends. Be dressed for a mess, and bring your crafty Halloween skills.

GRANT 101—On October 4, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Arts Exchange will have a public information session. Guest speaker Barbara Mah, AFA, will inform people how to get funding and to make a successful grant application for fine-art artists.

CREATING GRAPHIC NOVELS—On October 8, teens and adults have the chance to get insider knowledge for creating their own graphic novels. Writer-in-residence Richard Van Camp and other experts will offer tips and advice for creating a graphic novel from start to finish. Registration required.

STARFEST: TERRY O’REILLY—On October 12, host of CBC’s Under The Influence is coming to St. Albert. O’Reilly will share insights from his latest book “This I Know: Marketing Lessons from Under The Influence”, as well as reveal tips and share stories about the power of smart marketing.

AMPLIFY FESTIVAL—From October 13 to 14, discover a new way of looking at art and culture with workshops, concerts, projects and performances. This festival, now in its fourth year, is completely organized by young adults for young adults. For students from Grade 7 to those up to 21-years-old.

GRAND UNVEILING: TEMPLE OF BEAUTY—On October 14, Temple of Beauty Facial Boutique celebrates its new location in the Perron District. There’ll be free demos on skin care technology and products, complimentary refreshments and more.

NIGHT OF FEAR FESTIVAL—From October 20 to 21, this family event has a haunted house and haunted graveyard, vendors, entertainers and a costume parade. There’ll also be a kids Halloween bash.

KNIFE CLINIC—On October 25, Zwilling J.A. Henkels presents a knife sharpening clinic. Bring up to three Henckels knives to be sharpened—no serrated blades—as well as discover how to sharpen them yourself from the people who know knives best. Drop in from 3 to 5 pm.

HARVEST OF ART SHOW & SALE—From October 27 to 29, the St. Albert Painters Guild presents its annual art show and sale. Guild artists will showcase their work for the three days with the opening reception on the 27th.

A CHRISTMAS HAMPER CALL-OUT—The St. Albert Kinettes has a special call-out for the community. The Christmas Hamper Campaign is coming and the Kinettes are desperately seeking a temporary “Hamper Home.” They need a space 15,000 to 20,000 square feet, which has running water and heat.
