NIGHT WITH YOUR NEIGHBOURS—On September 16th, there’ll be a block party hosted by the Neighbourhood Network and The Collective. The Network wants to promote good neighbours in St. Albert. The main event will be a coffee roasting demo and tasting with Good Neighbour Coffee Company. Local businesses will put on a small street market, too, so bring your neighbours and get to know a few more.

ARTVENTURES—On September 17th, kids aged 6 to 12 get to try transferring images onto wood. The aspiring artists will see Brenda Danbrook’s exhibit Reconstructions and then get a tutorial on how Danbrook created her exhibit pieces. Advanced registration is required.

EDMONTON OIL KINGS—On September 17th, get primed for hockey with this pre-season game where the Oil Kings take on the Saskatoon Blades. Ten dollars at the door will get you an evening of slapshots and power plays. Puck drops at 6 pm.

SCARECROW SKATE—On September 18th, this themed skate is free for everyone, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or can execute a flawless sixth-spin. Hosted by the Jenkins Family Tim Horton’s and it will be supplying hot chocolate and Timbits to keep your energy up. Skating from 1:45 pm to 3:15 pm. No shoes, strollers, skating aids, sticks or pucks.

TERRY FOX RUN—On September 18th, help carry on Terry Fox’s dream along with thousands of Canadians. Run, walk or bike either 5 kms or 10 kms. This is also a dog-friendly event. Registration is at 10 am with the race starting at 11 am. Come out to participate or cheer on the racers.

YOUTH DIGITAL PHOTO CONTEST—The Musée Héritage Museum is hosting a photo contest with the theme Old Stone, New Steel. Grab your camera, and take your best shot of St. Albert’s “built environment” such as building and bridges. This is an annual contest with the following age groups: grades 3–6, grades 7–9 and grades 10–12. Winning entries will be displayed in the museum November 8th to January 15th. Contest closed October 11th.
